Does Urgent Care Do Telemedicine?
At South Tampa Immediate Care, the answer is a resounding “yes!” We understand that some of our patients might feel uncomfortable about the prospect of leaving home and traveling to our urgent care center in Tampa, Florida, when they aren’t feeling well—especially during these unprecedented times. We firmly believe that by making it possible for a patient to consult with a provider from the comfort and safety of home, telemedicine is changing the urgent care landscape for the better, and our practice is fully on board.
How It Works
You can request a virtual visit with a South Tampa Immediate Care provider up to one day in advance. Telemedicine consultations are available Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM, and Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Choose the time that best fits your schedule, and remember: A telemedicine visit eliminates the drive time and wait time associated with an in-person visit. For your added convenience, we accept new patient paperwork electronically.
To conduct your telemedicine visit, you can use any device that has a webcam and internet connection, such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer. We use a secure videoconferencing platform that complies with HIPAA guidelines to protect your privacy.
After discussing your medical needs, your provider may be able to diagnose and provide advice or treatment for a non-life-threatening illness or injury, such as:
- A flu-like illness
- A sore throat
- Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
- A urinary tract infection (UTI)
- A skin rash
- A muscle sprain or spasm
- A skin wound
From there, we may refill your prescription or send a new prescription to your pharmacy of choice, or we may direct you to come in for testing (for instance, COVID-19 viral and antibody testing must be conducted on-site).
With South Tampa Immediate Care in Tampa, FL, urgent care is only a click away! We are committed to providing outstanding health care services on your schedule.
